Any Ball park amount I should expect as attorney fee for the MTR ? I know some one mentioned about a CA attorney who does it for $500 but since I don't have H1 as backup , incase if I need switch back to the 2nd employer it is better to keep the current attorney ( 2nd employer ) . looks like he may not come cheap . they asked whether I want to file for Adv parol and it will cost attorney fee $800 . ( I don't have a clue why asked when my I485 is in denial stage) .
I looked at the I290B form and looks not so complicated.
But in this situation I do not want to take the risk of filing myself .

This is my thought process (also referred by Ron G):
July 2007 brought in approximately 500K 485 cases.
We do not know how many cases were pending as of June 2007.
Fiscal year 2007-2008 USCIS used over 140K EB VISA numbers (I think it was around 155K).
Fiscal year 2008-2009 USCIS will use atleast 140K EB VISA numbers
so, 500K - 300K = 200K.
Assuming USICS approval rate is 85%; 75K of 500K are denied.
200K - 75K = 125K EB cases pending from the July 2007 cases.
Additions: from all current categories - may be 25 K in 2 years?
So, 150 K plus whatever that was pending as of June 2007.
So next fiscal year, 2009 if USCIS uses the quota 140 K, most or all of the 2007 filings will be cleared. If not EB3 I, definitely EB2 I and C, EB3 ROW will be cleared.
Depending on new filings, EB3 I might retrogress but retrogression might come within 3-4 years instead of current 8 years.
I strongly believe, beginning Jan 2010, dates for EB2 (I and C) will move forward heaps and bounds followed by EB3 ROW.

$4000 sounds like a good deal for a Masters degree. Do you know which company hires people from Aspen though?
Come on.. we are not talking about hiring.. No company is waiting in line to hire anybody coming out from Aspen University with Masters Degree.
What we are talking here is whether One holding 3 yr bachelors Degree from India be eligible to apply under EB-2 category after completing Masters Degree from an accredited university.
If the PERM Job description says " Masters Degree"

Here is what i think ........USCIS works and approves according to RD till 140/485 approval. After this they hand over the case to DOS for visa issuance who work according to PD when allocating visa numbers. Correct me if i am wrong.

Your intentions are good - but the approach you took needs to be refined further. None of what I wrote above is personally against you - I appreciate your efforts but feel that we need to approach it differently - probably equating updates with money is not a good approach given that once someone gives money , they may start having a feeling of entitlement and we may not be ready to handle it.

Without a doubt, the poll I have posted is clearly focused on a single dimension i.e. whether receiving more regular updates will help people get more involved and contribute more (whatever be that amount, it would be in addition to current status). While there could be several other ideas to increase participation level, this is what I felt was important to me and was looking to gauge if others felt similalry. However, I clearly don't have a patent on ideas - if you have a different approach or idea I would assume you wouldn't hesitate to pursue that to achieve our goals.
As far as as the notion that someone who gives money feels entitled to receive information - so, what's wrong with that? After all no one gives without any expectations and based on this poll, there are at least some of us for whom being informed along the process is one of those expectations, especially since none of our goals will be achieved overnight. See really ..my ignorence on this option ( of making smaller contribution using paypal- donations@immigrationvoice.org )... is probably why some of the guys I have spoken to at work have also not contributed yet..though they all visit and adhore the IV effort..

You are talking about taking an article and putting a perspective on it. Can you be more elaborate? If you are talking about articles being written on us, I believe there are not a lot.
My last post in the matter. By our perspective, what I meant was, if you see an article talking about common topics such American Compititiveness or Illegal immigration you can always send an e-mail to the reporter and talk about plight legal immigrants. In most cases you will see a response from the reporter, whether they publish it or not is generally a matter of who you represent and audicences to the cause and other issues . That's why I said if IV as an organisation sends an e-mail (it could be me or you but representing IV itself) there is a possiblity that you will be taken seriously. But repeating the same issue to the same reporter 100 times will not make it any important it might even have a deleterious effect. I have seen this method working in the past. If you disagree with my approach, let's agree to dissagree on our approaches.
What if the reporter you are writing to has an opinion similar to that of Tancredo on H1B?
If this is the case no matter how many e-mail we send it will not have any impact on him/her. That debate is almost like Conservative vs. Liberal debate and no amount of convincing can convince the other side.
How ever, I do not agree that we will be considered SPAM unless its the same message COPY/PASTE. 1000 emails?? Are you kidding me? I am sure it hasnt gone beyond 10 and will not go beyond 25 in the worst case.
