Do we have any updates on where to send the check?

I have one message from Pappu that they have some updates on this. I don't know any details so far. Hopefully we will get some account information soon! If not, we will see how to create a pool account for this and then submit to IV. One thing is for sure, I don't think we can not afford loosing this golden opportunity. I don't want to loose this to bureaucracy.

Thanks everyone for support. So far pledge is $4300. We are close!

All EB2 people affected, lets get organized.
This time USCIS is hiding by not making official announcements.
We need to act as we did last July.
Lets send letters to congressman like zoe lofgren.
NSC is issuing frivolous RFEs as delaying tactics.
I am not seeing similar outrage as we saw last year.
The time to act is now.

Totally understand where you are coming from and what you are trying to say. We all need to be engaged more actively. However, in this thread, you are likely to receive more posts with the message -

"Are u blind - we are organized, we are asking each other questions about each other's status, tracking every LUD change, comparing status of each other, voting for and against in all the Eb2/Eb3 polls, always suggesting, supporting and arguing for changes that perfectly fit with my gc application, arguing why country of origin is so bad, why America has nothing to offer, unless I get my gc tomorrow, how this country has the opportunity to become great if they give me gc, what are lawmakers doing, why did they not pass laws to fix the problem of highly skilled idiots sorry, I mean highly skilled professionals, what is core doing, are they not our servants? What more do you want? Before Senators vote on the floor of the Senate, they will logong to this this site to learn what HIGHLY SKILLED IMMIGRANTS because if it was not for these HIGHLY SKILLED, the world will come to a screeching halt. So what more should we do, we are already organized." yada yada yada yada

just, a few things like that, that's all.

I agree farming is fun! I did farming when I was young back in INDIA!

Recently I toured entire US except a few states by road. I saw people doing farming in huge lands like other professions. I saw one community from india owning lots of motels/hotels! To my surprise 20/25 motels we stayed were owned by people of indian origin and most were immigrants.
To all who claim to be stuck in GC queue I strongly suggest a US road trip. It will show you parts of USA which you have not seen as well as relax ur mind.

Agree... and this will also increase your awarness. It's a beautifull country and you will enjoy the diversity and resourcefulness. Go mid-west!

    Leadership-

Most of the senior members and Admins either have left IV or not able to spend enough time together to plan and organize action plans for the community. This is what I feel we are missing. We are acting alone although we are part of community.

We need to come together and keep ourselves focussed on common issues related with congress bills, retrogression, IV Agendas and road-map for coming months or years.

I mostly see pappu from core IV leadership. Where are other folks. If current leaders cannot lead us in the future, we need to find someone who could.

Again, my intention is not question anyone's hard work, but I am not seeing the same momentum and focus we had year back.

    Here is the problem

-- Grass root & state level efforts work only when there are a lot of grass root workers. For example independence struggle in india worked due to grass root efforts. But please try to understand that things are different here --- by definition, we are immigrants, our numbers are limited in this country.

Okay. Its obvious that we need more participation from members for higher rate of success for IV campaigns.

Simply put, groups working in isolated corners of the country are having no effect on the politicians, because each area has only a few people and the politicians are not seeing the combined effect.

"Grass root efforts" may sound very trendy, but are actually leading us no where............yes we need it......but at the same time IV has to have a strong leadership who can show their strenght by doing phone / lettere campaigns.

Actually I disagree with you on two fronts. Even with low member participation, whatever success IV had is to a large measure due to the member participation. Second point is your post seem to suggest, I might have misread your statement, that just the IV leadership alone can make the phone/letter campaign a success. How? I am not privy to IV core information but I would doubt that just the IV core calling and writing letters would persuade the folks in DC to change their position.

My take is that the IV core can help come up with focused action items, and its by increasing grass roots effort that we can achieve the IV goals. IV core can also help with the lobbying activity, which again needs funds from the members. Increasing member participation in IV is the difficult part. Talk is easy.

I am going to take the liberty of putting together an agenda for the conference call, just to make it more productive. I can play scribe for the call.

The call will be for a maximum of 60 mins, unless someone wants to take it longer than that.

    1. Quick introductions - State your name - GC application stage. - 10 mins
    2. Brainstorming session -- 20 mins
    2. Volunteers who want to be part of the smaller sub-group need to come forward. -- 5 mins
This is purely to get thoughts/ideas streamlined. Everybody needs to chip in once the action plans are drafted.
    3. Volunteers to exchange contact information. -- 10 mins
    4. Miscellaneous -- 15 mins (if needed)

Please add more items if you feel they are necessary.

I will try to scrape all the ideas generated in this thread and will summarize for the call. If anyone wants to post more ideas/comments/suggestions/criticisms, go right ahead and post.

Good idea to have a conference call.
Create a team of people who want to actively take part in such effort. These people will be leaders and will do all the planning and execution.

We will provide support for the functioning of this team.
Work on various ideas and see if they can be implemented, are as per current law and regulations.... What kind of budget do you need and can help raise etc.

We will provide guidance during the process if you need it. Also explore the possibility of a big lobby day in DC and create a team of participants for it. We see this event as a possibility in the near future to push our advocacy efforts.

Dummgelauft and Saguar, we all respect your opinions and know that you have a very valid reasons to hold on to your opinions. What I was saying is that if we take the majority of the posters who have responded / posted in this thread, we are seeing an overwhelming majoiry who support and /or sympathize with the pregnant girl. We are definitely not going to change our opinions and so are you. so let us stop this argument with a clear awareness that the majority of the posters are siding with the girl regarding the inhumane treatment delivered to her. We are not saying that we are correct but only saying that we are indeed the majority (thank God)

I'd say fuck the majority. You think we are going to believe something as stupid? If you believe so much in humanity, why don't you distribute all the dollars you earned in the US among the poor in India.
That you won't do. But you'll preach lessons of humanity to others.

Who asked you? Are we asking for your permission, jackass? If the 75% of the companies were also started by us, then, parasites like you will have to leach off us. Then, who will hire morons like you?

Who cares about your admiration for leadership qualities? Why, does that sharpen your skills as a kissass to your boss?

Your contribution is not welcomed. Go back to where you came from and contribute there.
You say you start 25% of the companies. Though, I don’t believe this number but what about the remaining 75%? Also, what percentage of employment do such companies generate? Negligible! Every Joe Schmuck can start a company; it takes only few hundred dollars. And by the way, those were supposed to be my dollars.

Having said that, I would like to remind the readers I have great respect for those with leadership qualities. Now, my questions to all, what percentage of green card aspirants start such companies?
Just 1%, what about the remaining masses, they in my mind are parasites, sloths, cowards and will do more harm than good to our society.

And this actually strengthen our argument that employment based quota should be drastically reduced and made available to “real people” only.

    You just don’t deserve it…

Ok, so if I file the i-140/i-485 now and leave the country with a new stamp.

what do you mean by new stamp ? once you apply for I-485 , you need to wait until you get your I-485 reciept# to leave country.

Now, if my I-140 is approved after that, and then my i-485 is looked at after that date, will I considered to be in status then, because when they are looking at the AOS application, I have already left and returned to the country??

I guess you have to get new I-94 and submit that new I-94 to USCIS.

Or should be in status the day the AOS petition is filed and even if i leave/re-enter the country after that, it does not matter?!

I am not sure , gurus please answer this question..Let us know if get any info regarding this because I am in simillar situation.

Why so much emphasis on growing your own vegetables?

What crop should I grow?

    EB3 Guys,

Take it easy... This is just for humour, to have fun at these times.

No green card for you. Just work well for 6 years, enjoy life in US, enjoy sports cars by renting, not by buying, rent a big house, have a lawn and garden in back yard, grow your own vegetables. Have nice vacations like Hawaii, Jamaican islands, Vegas, Porto Rico etc.,Have fun in life. Do not go for green card. After 6 years, get nice job in India, own apartment near to office and ask your parents to live with you. Take kids to school . Have fun with them. Try to become director, AVP,VP,SVP,CEO,CTO and President. Do not go for green card. After you become director, buy a single family home and mercedez or BMW and have fun. Retire by the time your kids become earners. Grow vegetables in back yard. Do gardening and have fun. Thats how life should be. Do not hope for green card. H A V E F U N.

I'm curious if the POE officers know if a person has been laid off? A friend of mine is planning to travel to Canada for the first time. He has an H1b for the past 6 years and approved I-140 and extension. He was laid off for 5 months from Company A but has an approved extension for Company B. This was 4 years ago.. His been working for company B eversince w/o problems.

His worried about traveling. His planning to use Auto Revalidation with his B1 visa. Can somebody advice?
