Backlog guys hate Perm filers as they went ahead of line... This is not true. How come PERM filers can go ahead in line.
Eb3 guys hate EB3-EB2 conversion guys as they went ahead of line...

my experience with california DMV - renewed via mail. Paid 28$, got a new plastic card which is valid for next 5 years.

Well $900 for 485 includes AP/EAD (unlimited) and this would avoid the hazzle of renewing it with fee every year.

Has anyone thought of the people who missed the august 17 deadline because the labor was not cleared within time. Because of no mistake from ourside, we have to suffer. What a screwed up legal situation ?
As of now PD is apr 2001, I dont know when will it move ?

No. You cannot get bachelors in india with 14 years.
The Diploma route for bachelors is this...
10+3(diploma)+3(bachelors).
For some other schools
10+3(diploma)+4(bachelors).
So in effect, the diploma route also puts you in 16 years / 17 years for Bachelors of Eng.
It might be extremely difficult to claim 14 years equivalent as US bachelors.

My I-140 is approved in 2006 and now i have filed my I-485. My employer has not given me any kind of doucments like I-140 approved document or Labour Substitution document. The only form he gave is ETA 9035E after my substitue labour was approved. If I want to change job after 180 days using AC21 do I need any of doucments from this employer. If my employer is not ready to give , what is other alternative. Plesae advice.
It would be best to get the labor certification application to know the exact job title, job description and wage rate. If employer is not ready to share a copy of labor certification application, file FOIA application to get the copy of the labor certification application. It may take up to 1-2 months to process FOIA.
It is highly recommended to get copy of approved I-140. There may be other ways to handle this, but here is a way I would prefer. Ask your lawyer to send you copy of your 485 packet. If your 140 was approved prior to sending 485 application, the lawyer would have sent you a copy of approved I-140 with your 485 application to USCIS. As per the memo if the I-140 petition was approvable at the time of filing, one should be fine even if employer tries to withdraw unapproved I-140.
If there is an RFE, then sure things are messy if employer does not cooperate.
If you try to use AC21 without an approved I-140 your employer can withdraw the I-140 petition ( since it is not approved yet ) . So best wait a few months until it is approved and then merrily go the AC21 way

I changed jobs 180 days from filing of 485. My lawyer asked me for the job description of the new job to make sure that it is consistent with the previous job. The titles don't mean anything.

Will they not update status when they send any FP notice? Even if one misses the letter, one will get an idea whether something happened or not. Or are you saying that they don't even change the status when they send FP notice and if it misses to reach us we never would be knowing at all??
Can anybody clarify whether they update at the online status system when they send FP notice. Otherwise there is some reason for a mild worry; still don't see any reason for the kind of anxiety people are having for not having FP.

its a really good discussion, thanks to all people who have provided valuable information. I am a Consultant throughout my career and never lead a team but now planning to change gears and move into project management. When I goolged about the requirement to take the exam, Lot of PMP training institutes came up and they are charging about $2000 for training and they say its a 5 day course, guarantee to pass bhla bhla .... My first question is it required to take these training classes? if not how to become eligible for to take the exam, Please advice.

Same like other folks here, thanks to USCIS, I have never been able to use it, since I am in eb3 and cant change job family. anyways here is my thought, in my opinion, this is just my opinion , keep in mind, those trainings are not at all necessary, if you have little bit of perseverance and time. Reason I am saying this is, with 2 kids, I was able to do this PMP certification myself, without any training. I took my own sweet time, spent 6 months studying in a library (2 hours every day on weekdays) and couple of hours in the weekends. I could pass this in one shot. And if I can do it, anyone can do it. All you need is perseverance and I am sure you will get through. PM me if you have any questions on how to prepare for the exam.

Its a small good news. I got similar status update last year sometime in Aug/Sept before my I-485 was finally approved around end of Sept '08. My case was originally filed at CSC and then was transferred to NSC. I got this message when NSC finally picked up my transferred case, dusted it off and (I'm guessing) input it in their system. Most likely your cases went the similar route and now they have been finally picked up by the destination center for processing.
