I also have a 3 year Bachelor's degree (BSc Physics) + 3 Year masters degree (MCA) from India. I would like to get it evaluated. Could you please let me know which education evaluation agency you used?

Yes, my Bachelor and Master's are in same/related discipline. I think you can use any education evaluator but make sure that are aware of Indian Education System. We have responded to the RFE. I will post the outcome for the benefit for all.

1. if your company pays for everything, why such reluctance to put up a few more dollars for your own cause? think of those that pay for everything themselves and still contribute.
2. each contribution to paypal costs, they take a chunk off it. making small 10 buck contribution is really not the intelligent way to go.
3. there used to be a 20/mnth recurring contribution. now it does no exist. what do you want? should we throw out the original 20 buck guys? of course they can continue doing it. i can't imagine why it would put you off? btw we did not really lose any money by going to a minimum of 50- you know why? those who were serious still contributed. others who were whining at that time (why is there not a 10/mnth option) were in many (though not all) cases not going to contribute anyway. this is just fyi.
4. what is 50 bucks a month? step back and think sometime. a family meal/movie? do you indulge yourself occasionally worth 50 bucks?
i think in many cases the answer is yes. the money we need for lobbying ie very large....it's hard to make it form 20 bucks at a time when barely 5% of the membership contributes.
you have the choice hereof donating 100 now and considering it as two 50 buck donations, so your next one will be delayed. there are various ways of looking at this.

We have 24H to work hard to create maximum awareness to media. Please don't forget to mansion Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy behind this flower campaign. Let's work hard today and see the impact tomorrow. I wish some news channel cover live delivery of flowers at USCIS HQ.
I am not saying that it is working on the USCIS. We dont know yet coz the flowers start reaching there tommorow. If it is working on USCIS, we would know by the end of the week. Not now.
But it is working on the media.
What I am saying is we are getting a good amount of attention from a lot of newspapers - which is important to create more awareness on the plight of half a million law abiding immigrants and the backlogs they are facing.

Recently I returned after a one month trip to India. At DC airport the CBP secondary inspection officer grilled us rough. First he called my wife and asked why did we leave US. She told that since my parents are old and not in good health we visited them. Then he started asking for documents proving it. And told us that without documents he won't let us enter. He went on to say that AP is only on humanitarian basis and unless CBP officer is satisfied with proof they cannot allow AP holder to enter. Finally after convincing him for another 30 min he let us in.
This was a really shocking experience. Are employment based GC's AP supposed to be treated like humanitarian AP? or was the CBP officer over reacting? Gurus please throw some light.

How about not resigning 'officiallly', but taking another job?
Most of us work for consulting companies, if we stay with the sponsoring employer for 3-4 months, then go on leave(paid/unpaid), and then 'come back' and ask for work/project.... they might not have a project just ready to take you in. In that case they may ask you to resign or else they'll have to pay you (they can't keep you on bench anymore...) or they may fire you..
Are you any safer if the employer fires you?

As per 2006 and 2007 CIR, only illegal immigrants get green card easy. Legals like us - it will become even more difficult. read the text of previous CIRs and new CIR will not be different. Below is the text, it clearly excludes legals from legalization. Hope I would have been daring enough to be illegal. Definately, illegals are the vote banks and they get all the attention.

`(a) Adjustment of Status-
`(1) PRINCIPAL ALIENS- Notwithstanding any other provision of law, including section 244(h) of this Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security shall adjust to the status of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, an alien who satisfies the following requirements:

Your PD will be current in Oct or Nov for sure. With the current way of USCIS handling visas, there will be no big retrogress or big advance. Oct bulletin will stay the same or move forward.

Do you really agree with multi-national managers(via L1A). This is the area wherein the interpretation is pretty loose. If you dissect EB1 data you would find that EB1C used bulk of it except for this year due to bad economy and tightening of screws. There should be some very clearly defined guidelines for EB1-C, somebody being an onsite coordinator or managing 5 people should not be eligible. This category should be reserved for those who are managing at least 100 people or control business in several millions. I agree that EB1 should be just for the exceptional.

anyway, the focus of this thread was about the president's immigration speech. Atleast the speech included the fact that illegal immigration makes a mockery of legal immigration. understood that any solution also must include finding a way on how to handle the undocumented people.
anyway, the speech for now might be just a start or more "kick in the butt" to let the congress know that they need to start work in CIR. when it comes to fruition is anybody's guess.

Thanks hpandey and apume. Your suggestions are very helpful. I will definitely take FMLA and take the leave for 3 months. Once the baby is born, I will try to get into new job ASAP.
I don't want anyone to be discriminated like me in the future. I know how painful it is as I am facing it now. I am hardly getting sleep and worried about my baby becoz of all the stress.
